Заснетият с бюджет от над 200 милиона долара приключенски уестърн “Самотният рейнджър” е без съмнение една от най-рисковите филмови продукции на 2013-та година. Освен, че не е част от вече изградена и позната на зрителите поредица продуцирания от Джери Брукхаймър филм принадлежи и към жанр, който често бива игнориран от масовата публика. Все пак очакванията са, че огромната международна популярност на изпълнителя на главната роля Джони Деп ще помогне на “Самотният рейнджър” в борбата му срещу останалите мащабни летни заглавия.
Деп се превъплъщава в образа на индианеца Тонто, който в партньорство с тексаския рейнджър Джон Рийд раздава правосъдие в Дивия Запад. Историята на филма е вдъхновена от класическия едноименен сериал, а за режисьор беше привлечен създателя на първите три части от поредицата “Карибски пирати”, Гор Вербински.
Продължилият цели осем месеца снимачен процес на“Самотният рейнджър” бе съпътстван от множество проблеми и разногласия между Вербински и студиото. На няколко пъти снимките бяха прекратявани, а част от снимачния екип дори заплаши, че ще се оттегли от проекта. Въпреки проблемите лентата бе заснета без да се правят промени в екипа и от Уолт Дисни я подкрепиха със стабилна рекламна кампания, която в момента е в своя разгар. През изминалите месеци бяха разпространени множество плакати и няколко трейлъра, които ясно показват, че подобно на “Карибски пирати” филма ще съдържа голям брой мащабни екшън-сцени, които са комбинирани с хумористични моменти между главните герои.
По думите на режисьора обаче, филма ще предложи на зрителите “много допълнителни неща”, които не присъстват в рекламните трейлъри.
По време на интервю за CNN по повод предстоящата премиера на “Самотният рейнджър” Гор Вербински поговори за продукцията и за това какво ще предложи тя на зрителите.
Вербински: “Историята на филма е разказана от гледната точка на Тонто и на практика той е основната движеща сила. Забавното в случая е, че Тонто не винаги си спомня какво точно се е случило между него и Джон Рийд и от това извира част от хумора. Някои хора сметнаха, че ролята на Джони (Деп) ще бъде малка, тъй като Тонто винаги е бил поддържащ персонаж, но ние от самото начало се погрижихме да превърнем този герой в нещо повече от помощник. А и би било наистина глупаво да разполагаш с талант като Джони Деп и да не му дадеш материал с който той да се развихри.
За мен като режисьор това беше най-трудния филм по който съм работил до момента, но вярвам, че всичко си е заслужавало тъй като зрителите искат да видят нещо различно. А когато работиш по нещо различно всичко е винаги е по-трудно. Хората искат големи филми и ние им предлагаме точно това. Не е случайно, че летните филми се превръщат в много успешни блокбастъри. Просто това е едно от най-добрите забавления за хората през лятото. Нищо не може да замени чувството да бъдеш в голяма прохладна зала с други зрители и заедно да се забавлявате с това което виждате на екрана. Смятам, че “Самотният рейнджър” ще даде на хората точно това което те очакват от голям летен филм.
Ще видите не само влакове, преследвания, индианци-команчи и кавалеристи, но и ще се насладите на красотата на пет различни щата. Снимахме на много места и това определено допринесе за страхотната визия на филма.
А и искам да отбележа, че повечето от нещата които ще видите на екран са напълно истински. Влаковете са истински, сблъсъците са истински и хората които се движат върху локомотивите са също истински. Колкото и да са добри визуалните ефекти нищо не може да замени гледката на истински човек върху движещ се влак.”
Освен Джони Деп в “Самотният рейнджър” участват още Арми Хамър като Джон Рийд/Самотният рейнджър също така и Хелена Бонам Картър, Бари Пепър, Том Уилкинсън, Уилям Фихтнър, Джеймс Фрейн, Рут Уилсън. Ако лентата се превърне в очаквания хит от Уолт Дисни са готови да финансират и направата на директно продължение в което отново ще участва Джони Деп.
